Testing Period: May 12th through Jun 4th, 1999
This 3rd IPSec Interoperability Test was performed amongst equipment supporting DES (56-bit) encryption algorithm using automatic (IKE Pre-Shared Key) exchange as the key exchange method. "Re-Keying" was also confirmed in this 3rd IPSec Interoperability test; something which was not tested at the 2nd IPSec Interoperability Test.

Each product tested had various different modes and settings, so ample time was taken to test various methods to confirm if products were compatible or not. Also, for this testing, a High Speed Digital line (HSD 128) was used to test conformance with remote routers as well for those products which supported such. As for the network configuration and the IP addresses used for the testing, a table including detailed information has been made available along with the results in the Testing Method and Procedures page.
Each products log and other status information concerning public key exchange were reviewed and confirmed and an IPSec Analyzer IKEVIEW was also used to confirm proper sequencing as well as to trouble shoot problems when key establishment or other problems occurred.
