Captivity Question

Captivity Question

The Question:

A man is in captivity, and one fine day his captors lead him to two doors. The Captive understands that behind one door lies freedom; behind the other awaits a hungry tiger.

The Captive is not told which door is which, however.

In front of each of the two doors stands a guard. The guards of course know what is behind each door. The Captive understands that one guard always tells the truth; the other guard always lies.

The Captive is not told which guard is of which persuasion, however.

Also, the Captive understands that each guard knows of the others' persuasion (liar or truthful).
